Council Cab Community Transport – Shopping transport assistance

As of 12 December 2012 Gold Coast City Council operates a ‘Council Cab’ service offered to people over 60 years of age and those with disabilities. The service helps with travel to the local shopping centre. The door to door shared transport is only a $2 fare each way per person.

For Ormeau and Ormeau Hills the Gold Coast Cabs number to call is 131 008.

When booking ask the operator for the ‘council cab’, if you hear a recording please press number 2 to speak with a customer service rep. You must book your seat by midday the day before your service (Tuesday).

For Ormeau the shopping day is Wednesday and it will take you to the shopping centre on Peachey Road. Pickup is approximately 9.15am (from your home) and will return you back home at approximately 11.30am (pick-up from taxi rank).

If you require a walker, trolley or wheelchair please let Gold Coast Cabs know at the time of booking. Some delays may be caused as a result of weather or during busy periods, please be patient if they run 10-15 minutes late.

You can make permanent bookings for shopping trips but ensure you cancel it if you want to skip a week.

Please note Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services may also be able to offer extended assistance for specialist appointments. Please call on 5526 5288.

For more information about this service please call Gold Coast City Council on 5582 8626.
