THE ?northern corridor will get a massive boost when a multi-million dollar shopping centre opens at Pimpama and generates more than 400 jobs.
Pimpama Junction Shopping Village is on track to open next April and its anchor tenant, Woolworths, will employ 80 full-time staff.
Construction will generate 150 jobs and, when complete, the centre will provide 250 permanent positions.
It will be the first major shopping centre on the eastern side of the M1 in the Coomera/Pimpama growth corridor.
Tipalea Partners managing director Scott Spanton said leasing and construction were going well.
He was confident the new centre would fill an urgent need in the area.
“The population has been increasing significantly, but if locals want to go and buy some groceries, get a takeaway or buy some fresh bread, they have had to drive to Coomera or even Helensvale,” Mr Spanton said.
“All that is about to change and we have had nothing but positive feedback from local residents.”
