Lions Club Ormeau

The Ormeau Lions Club is the only Community Service organisation in the area. We meet at 6.30pm for a 7pm every 1st & 3rd Monday night at Shearers Arms Tavern, Peachey Road, Ormeau.

The purpose of our meetings is for fellowship and business, often with interesting and informative speakers on a range of topics.

Lions are actively involved in a wide range of community activities, giving help to our young and the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged locally, nationally and internationally.

Members of Ormeau Lions Club can be seen regularly on Saturday mornings outside Super IGA Ormeau  sizzling sausages and bacon & egg rolls, having fun while raising funds for various community projects, including Lions Haven Home for the Aged at Hope Island.

Lions' first "event" each year is the World's Greatest Shave held at the Shearers Arms Tavern. All funds raised go to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Every August the annual Lions Ormeau Fair is held at Brien Harris Oval. This is a 2 day event bringing together displays, live entertainment, school choirs, market stalls, sideshow alley rides and novelties, food, drinks, a movie and fireworks, just like a mini Ekka - best of all, admission is FREE! Businesses and market stall holders pay a site fee, and local businesses sponsor the Fair in exchange for an excellent way to market and publicise their services and products. Site bookings fill up FAST every year as it continues to snowball with each year outdoing the previous one. To avoid dissapointment book early in the year (Feb-April). This is the major fundraiser of the year for the Club, and is eagerly awaited and supported by the local community. Funds raised from last year's Fair were distributed to local sporting clubs, schools, charities and non profit organisations.

Ormeau Lions are responsible for the running of the Driver Reviver Stop provided by the Qld Main Roads Department, and rely on a number of volunteers to help fill the roster to keep this important life-saving initiative manned from 8am to 8pm throughout long weekends and holidays.

Ormeau Lions have revived the 'Old Time Dance' held at Pimpama Hall each month. Please check the event calendar for details.

We welcome new members and are always looking for generous people who are willing to give their time and expertise to a worthy cause. The funds we raise give hope and happiness to many throughout the area and giving service as a Lion is a highly rewarding experience.

If you want to help out, whether it is with the Driver Reviver, weekend BBQs or in helping to organise our major events, you do not need to become a Lions member to do so, as we have many volunteers who help out as well. Highway Christian Church

Highway Christian Church held its first service in 1995 to meet the perpetual and growing needs in our community. We now have more than fifteen separate support groups and events most of which are weekly programs.

We cater for people of all ages and the community at large.  We aim to help people learn how to live life well, offer a place to share life’s problems with others, get personal counselling and support, build close relationships and friendships and much more. In December we also host the Ormeau Carols by Candlelight which had a record-breaking crowd in 2009. Let's see if we can beat that again this year!
